4 Hole Richmond Depot Button Top Views Profile View with Button Bottom Turned Up   Available in 7,9 and 11 Button Sets in Both Walnut and Cherry   See 2 Hole Button Photos Below For Comparisons of Wood Colors	4 Hole Richmond Depot Button This high dome, four hole, buttons seem to be extensively used in Richmond Depot jackets.  It has a slightly smaller outer diameter and a  smaller diameter thread well than what is typical for rhe two hole button.  Another subtle nuance is the slight flat area just next to the thread well which is not seen on the two hole buttons. This style button was originally producted by the Gibson brothers and is the  subject of  a recent internet article. Priority Mail Postage to lower 48 United States HOW TO PLACE YOUR Order Now Our Hand Made Hardwood Buttons                             We Are Known World Wide For   Note on Button Manufacturing Plant Winter Of 1862-1863 "While  on  an    inspecting   tour  in Columbus, Ga. in the winter of 1862-63, I was informed that wooden, horn and   bone   buttons   were   being manufactured there, and I visited the plant.  The factory was owned by a former lieutenant of the Confederate army, who had lost an arm in one of the early battles.   The motive power of his factory was an engine of  moderate  horsepower that had been used to run a printing press.  So complete were the saws, borers, and drying kilns that in the final process of their manufacture the completed buttons dropped into the hoppers with as much rapidity as nails from a nail making machine."      Dr. S.H. They seem to have been distributed from the Trans-Mississippi to the Atlantic coast.  Our reproductions are made from kiln-dried native hardwoods left in their natural color. They have an oil finish applied to the natural wood.
